Internet Dating - Free Dating Sites and Pay Dating Sites - The Pros and Cons

Until recently I was ready to give up on the dating scene. It simply seemed like it was too much of a hassle. I already have a job that takes up most of my time. The bar scene? Forget that. It just isn’t for me. It didn’t seem I was ever going to meet someone I was compatible with. A few months ago I was having a conversation with a good friend of mine, and the subject of dating came up. He mentioned that he met his girlfriend on an on line dating web site. I was intrigued by this, but at the same time skeptical. After a month or so I finally gave in and gave it a try. This is my experience.

From the start I really didn’t know what to expect. After googling around I found what seemed like an endless supply of these dating sites. Many of which are free, some are pay, and some are free with some restrictions until you pay.

The free sites. In theory a good idea. Right? I will tell you the one major disadvantage, they’re free. Simply put, people really seem to have no motivation to actually meet up and go out. In my experience most people use these sites as sort of a chat room, and nothing more. I’m sure that there are “success stories” out there, however after awhile I felt like I was chasing my own tail.

The sites that are free with restrictions until you pay are a little better. My only real problem is that you may get a message from someone and can’t read it until you pay. Or some other restriction like this. So with that being said, it can be frustrating but there are definitely some good sites out there.

Now the pay sites. If you are serious it really is the way to go. I guess the saying “put your money where your mouth is” really applies here. The site I was on had tons of people eager to get out and get to know you. I ended up meeting my girlfriend on one such site. So I guess you could say I am a fan of these sites.

All things said and done, it’s important to do your research. Find what is best for you and ask around. Try some free sites first and get your feet wet. Who knows, you may actually be successful!
