Introduction Dating - Using the Dating Meter

Dating Tips Add comments

How do you know if your first introduction date is a keeper…well, you use the date meter. This is a predetermined listing of qualities you are looking for in a potential mate. Ideally, you have spent a good chunk of time creating the date meter and you need to hold fast to what you’ve determined and not waver in the face of the post date test. That is very important. If you need to bring a first-rate friend into the mix to aid in the testing, that may be a good plan for introduction dating.

Some ideas for what to judge your date’s qualities against on this date meter are as follows. Punctuality, I know this may be harsh for many of us out there; including me, as I am notorious for keeping my husband waiting whenever we’re getting ready to go out, but this is a very good quality for your potential mate to have. It shows that this person cares and respects your time.

Good morals. Regardless of your faith system, aligning yourself with good company is key to not corrupting your own morals. Hopefully, this trait is high on the date meter list. In line with this train of thought is a positive attitude. Not everyone is a glass half-full kind of person, but it’s a real drag to be around someone who is always pessimistic. I’m an optimist and I love to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Is there a spark during introduction dating? Did you two hit it off? Do you feel any chemistry? Can you envision yourself kissing this person? If you feel more like siblings, forget about this one. He’s not the catch you may have thought he was. Of course, he may be a great guy and could end up being a wonderful friend to you, but if there’s no spark to keep the home fires burning, than don’t keep this dating relationship going. I agree that it is of great importance to be best friends with your significant other, as I am with mine; however, you need to be best friends and lovers.

Will your friends and family like this person? You shouldn’t base your whole decision on what your friends and family think, but they really know you and what makes you tick. Considering that aspect, maybe you’ll see that they are valuable resources in ascertaining how compatible you and this first or second date are.

Do you two have similar interests? Can you see yourselves hanging out together and having fun? Did the conversation flow smoothly or was there a lot of dead air? If you’re having trouble connecting now, it’s not impossible, but it is most likely that you’re not very compatible and you should move on.

How did he or she treat the waiter? Did he or she speak well of family and friends? What was the tone of speech and the direction of his or her conversations? The way a person treats anther who serves them, such as a waiter or cashier etc., explains a lot about his or her own character. Was there harshness in the tone of voice for no apparent reason? Did your date show disdain to the waiter? I know this is nitpicking, but in the end you’ll be glad you brought out date meter during your introduction dating.
