5 - The pressure is lower as e mails are much easier to write than talking face to face or on the phone.

6 - If you take a few common sense precautions it’s safe, as you only need to share the minimum personal information until you feel comfortable.

OK that’s the good stuff, so what are the cons?

1 - You are not initially seeing the person face to face. Pictures can be, at best touched up, or out of date, or at worse completely fake.

2 - If you fall for a person who is not local to you, or even on the other side of the planet, it may be sometime before you can meet, and long distance relationships are tricky at best.

3 - You have to trust what they tell you on their profile is true. I know this happens no matter how you meet, but it is easier to lie online than face to face, plus there are no body language clues to help you to make a judgment.

4 - You will often have to pay a membership fee to use the dating site. You can often get a free trial or free membership, sometimes with certain restrictions, before you stump up the cash. However it’s a small amount if you think about the cost of going out to bars etc to meet people.
